About Us

We’re fighting to keep CMU’s rich history of Men’s Track & Field alive. We’re a group of alumni and others who believe that the Athletic Department’s decision to cut Men’s Track and Field was the wrong choice for CMU and we want to bring it back.

Founding Members

Kent H. Baker – Director of Physical Education and Athletics at Great Lakes Academy and former head track coach at State University of New York, Northwood University and The University of Toledo.

Kent was a graduate assistant track coach at CMU and has experienced first hand the benefits to students, university and the community that a Track & Field program can provide.

Jim Knapp – Former CMU and Northwood University head coach. Multiple times Mid American Coach of the Year, multiple MAC championships, 2014 inductee to the CMU Marcy Weston Hall of Fame.

Ted Rockett – Former CMU Track & Field Athlete who credits his college track experience as helping further develop his mental toughness and leadership skills.

Ted works as an Executive Producer in the corporate events industry.

As former track coaches and also as a former CMU track athlete (Rob Johnson – 1969) we want to help to reinstate the men’s track program at CMU!
