Reinstate Committee Welcomes Russell Dinkins!
After a year of not being able to move the needle, the Reinstate Committee, with support from you, has retained Russell Dinkins to support the cause. Russell’s efforts and SUCCESS are well known. He has been the point guard in a 4-peat of reinstatement for:
- Brown
- Minnesota
- William & Mary
- Clemson
Now he’s all in on CMU. You can expect to see some action soon. For more information on Russell, check out this article in Runner’s World.
One of Russell’s key points in his initiative since programs started being cut centers on how Track & Field is the most egalitarian of sports, thus allowing access to anyone. This differs from golf where you need to pay for greens fees per round as well as to purchase equipment.
Like Russell, the committee has been calling out how this action by the university created the elimination of educational opportunity for black men. Read our Diversity report or the full Case for Reinstatement.

ACLU Support
The Reinstate Committee thanks ACLU of Michigan for clearly pointing out the impact of Central Michigan’s decision to REPLACE their track team with golf: they are TAKING AWAY educational opportunities from Black students and giving them to white athletes in golf.
